Plotty and Character.AI are built around different units
Character.AI is a character chat product. Plotty organizes a character into storylines and can put several story cards on one directed stage.
What each product is organizing
Character.AI is another company's app for talking with characters. People go there for a long-running chat with one persona. Plotty's public unit is a storyline: a titled scene with an opening, sitting under a character who can have other scenes beside it.
That difference matters when you want to keep two moods from overwriting each other. On Plotty you open a second storyline. You do not have to fold the café and the storm into one transcript.
Questions worth asking before you pick
Do you want one companion thread, or a shelf of scenes? Do you want other characters in the room, with a turn order, or a private conversation? Do you want an official iOS and Android app with a public price list for optional membership and diamonds?
Plotty's download page links to Google Play and the App Store. The pricing page lists the plans the app currently sells. Those pages are the source for price and install, not a comparison headline.
What this article does not claim
It does not rank the two products, invent user counts, or speculate about another company's business. It only describes the unit Plotty publishes: character, storyline, ensemble.
